I use a lot of guidebooks in my job and without doubt
Cadogan are the best buy, if you want something that's rich
in anecdotes, descriptive and great and disseminating local
colour and legends. They are not the most useful in terms of
being crammed with addresses of hotels and restaurants, but
you can get all that off the internet before you go. What
they are good for is carrying a higher standard of prose
than most of the other well known lines, yet you can still
slip one in your pocket. I particularly like their city
guides. I just wish they had one on Barcelona
