This restaurant is located in the Terrence Higgins Trust
Building on the corner of Greys Inn Rd and Swinton street
and I had heard that it was somehow affiliated to the trust
although it doesn't say that anywhere on it's website, other
than being it's extremely glamorous works canteen. It does
however run a Jamie Oliver type training programme, taking
"10 young adults each year, selected from the local
community", and training them in the in the eco friendly
restaurant trade. "this group will be offered a ground
breaking opportunity not only to learn all aspects of the
hospitality industry from leading industry experts, but how
to run a kitchen that is environmentally aware." says their
website.
The restaurant is open for lunches and dinner but I have
only been in the evening. I went last week to celebrate my
birthday with 3 friends. My meal was just divine and added
to that the staff where super friendly without being in the
way and the wine list was good too. Also apart form all the
food being eco. I can't eat wheat or cow's milk but there
was still plenty of stuff to choose from. Between the four
of us we managed to spend over 200 GBP but I think that that
was because we ordered cocktails and two bottles of wine the
starters I seem to remember were under 10 GBP and the mains
under 15. It was definitely worth it though. Before it
sounds as though I have shares in this company I should
perhaps say that one of my friends thought that his risotto
was a bit bland but my soup and partridge were perfectly
balanced without being too spicy.
