I recently switched from Vodafone Spain (contract) to Orange
Spain (contract) partly because my experience of Orange in
the UK was excellent and partly because the tariffs they were
offering were good. Big Mistake. I never used the Amena
network before France Telecom acquired it so can't comment,
but my experience with Orange has been a disaster. The
coverage is poor - no reception in many places where other
networks have it. The connections are often bad, very low
quality of service with connections dropping out, cutting
altogether or the sound being distorted. SMS messages are
delivered (from me and to me) hours or even days late.
To add insult to injury the customer service is quite rubbish,
(slightly embarrassing as I work for the company that
provides quite a lot of the telephone customer service!) as
the phone agents just tell you to go to one of the retail
outlets for help. In addition, some of the really basic things
like the voicemail service are completely counter-intuitive
with no basic instructions about how to save/delete/repeat
messages etc... all in all a big disappointment and now I am
stuck with them for the rest of the 12 month contract. Boo.
