Review For: gig (Alice Cooper)
Verdict: Alice Cooper, Motorhead. Cardiff CIA Show Full Details

Description: Rock concert

Opinion: Motorhead are noisey, not my cup of instant coffee really, but I did enjoy Killed by Death and Ace of Spades. You get what you expect, nothing else to say, apart from...drum solo, come on, what is it 1983 again? So Alice Cooper, always good fun, even with the terrible sound in the CIA (CRAPPY INDOOR ACOUSTICS?). For me Alice hasn't made a great record since Welcome to my nightmare(1975), and judging by his show he's in agreement with me. I'd estimate 15 of the 20 or so songs were '75 or pre. We got around 3 I didn't know, 2 from the 'hair metal eighties Alice', Feed my Frankenstein, and Poison...aaarrrgghhh! Other than that it was joyous in the extreme, Muscle of love, Be my Lover, Under My Wheels, Dead Babies, I love the Dead,Cold Ethel (such poetry.. "She's cool in bed, she oughtta be..cos Ethel's dead").....they just kept on coming. As did the carachters in the Alice show, including his very own daughter. And they hung him for killing the baby, as usual! Personally I prefer the beheading..but you can't be too picky! Alice is good for 60, and he knows what we like.

I'm afraid the high beer prices inside the CIA meant that I was kept away from Joan Jett, by the pub over the road. I mean, £3.80 for a tin of Strongbow is really pushing it. So I can't conmment on Joan Jetts performance, sorry Dave.

Hey Jamie! Was that one of the gigs where Joan Jett was supporting? If so, how was she? David.

Review For: Plas Derwen (not sure)
Verdict: Not all that it's made out to be. Show Full Details

Description: Pub/ restaurant

Opinion: Nothing worse really than someone pretending something is more than it actually is. I mean, yes I've had fancy food, I've no problem with it, and I've no problem paying extra for it. But when someone serves up 'ordinary' grub, and makes out it's fancy, just as an excuse to give you very meagre portions..then it does not make me happy. Chicken breast, with shittake mushrooms and potato gratin, so tiny it wouldn't fill a five year old. And not fancy, because it tasted bland, and it only cost £8! Pity, cos the service was good, and the welcome, but we'll not go again.

Ah! The first example of a TAT review helping someone else out! Glad I saw this as I was thinking of going there one night - I won't bother now.

Title: England football..

As a Welshman, people expect me to hate England. Nothing could be further from the truth, I've always got behind them, except when they play Wales obviously. But this current bunch are really proving to be the most over-rated, moaning, loathsome bunch of sportsmen ever. English, in fact British football is rotten from the top to the bottom, never mind who's in charge of the prima donnas, unless things change at grass roots level nothing will change. It is obvious to me every time I watch them what is wrong, possession of the football is paramount in the modern game, and England's players are not good enough at that basic tactic. I'm hearing all this bullshit about Steve Mclarens tactics as I type, but it's papering over the cracks. England, Britain as a whole, cannot play football to the highest standard as dictated by the world game these days. 'togetherness', 'fight', 'spirit',..all cliches, and none of them any good without technique. Croatia, as were Russia in the last game, were tachnically superior at keeping possession of the football, passing, and using it well. Things must change, but I can't see it, we're far too arrogant to admit what's wrong...we've been left behind.
