Review For: Dahab the windsurfing resort in Sinai (Club Mistral)
Verdict: Dahab rehab Show Full Details

Description: A resort on the Sinai peninsula, catering for windsurfers, divers and rich Russian tourists.

Opinion: Dahab is ace. If you want to learn to windsurf, there's a beautiful lagoon with terrific red mountains that sheer down into the ocean and do wonderful things to the quality of the afternoon sunlight. Club Mistral have a good selection of gear. Be sure to choose the best time of year - apparently May/ June and September are the windiest months. I was there in December and only got two 'blastingly' good windy days. I stayed at the Hilton, but you could do it cheaper staying in Masbat with all the hippies and German and English divers.

Hi buzzword: From 1993-97 I spent about a year in total in the Sinai. Dahab used to be a collection of tin huts on the edge of a hippy village. Not a 'proper' hotel in sight and the best place to chill was the beached boat restaurant on the main drag. I wonder if it's better or worse now? David.
