Review For: Vulcan 607 (all good bookshops)
Verdict: Really enjoyable holiday reading
Show Full Details
Description: The true story of the record-breaking raid carried out by the
RAF to bomb Port Stanley airport during the Falklands conflict.
Opinion: Took this book on holiday about a month ago, and really
enjoyed it. There is just the right amount of background on
the aircraft used in the raid, how they were used, and
importantly how they had *not* been used before. The
characters of the people involved are built up in the style of
many fiction books, but the story is indeed true. There is
plenty of banter, a dash of politics, lots of engineering effort
and ingenuity, and of course heroic flying. My review makes it
sound quite dry, but it is a really good story, well told.

Review For: Asda Tiger hygiene cat litter (Asda)
Verdict: Good performance for the price
Show Full Details
Description: Low-mid range anti-bacterial non-clumping cat litter
Opinion: Bought this cat litter as an alternative to the "premium"
Catsan hygienic cat litter. The odour prevention seemed as
good as Catsan, although the Asda product clumped
noticeably more under liquid waste. Unfortunately this
clumped material then disintegrated into powder. This made
daily maintenance and weekly cleaning a bit more fiddly and
time consuming, and let's face it, no-one wants to linger over
the cleaning of a litter tray. However, it is significantly
cheaper than Catsan (approximately 25p/litre compared to
about 41p/litre) and its general performance is comparable, so
it is worth a try.
Pros - Cheap, decent odour prevention.
Cons - More fiddly to clean than Catsan.

Review For: www.skypoker.com (BSkyB)
Verdict: Poker website that can get you on the telly
Show Full Details
Description: Poker website, with accompanying Sky TV channel showing
tournaments
Opinion: I recently registered as a Sky Poker user and have found the
site pleasant and easy to use. You have the choice to
deposit real money and try to make your fortune in cash
games or tournaments, or play in freeroll tournaments (no
entry fee, but a relatively small cash prize for the winner). For
complete novices, there are also tables where you play
with "poker points" as your stake - no money changes hands.
Each evening, there is a buy-in tournament called "The Open"
that is televised (with appropriate time delay!) on Sky
Channel 846. Other Sky Poker tournaments are also covered.
This gives you the chance to see your name up in lights on
TV, and for the rest of the world to marvel at your sublime
trapping skill or inspired laydowns. This really is the USP of
this website compared to the many others out there. It's not
all about vanity though, because the hands that are covered
on TV also get analysed by the resident poker experts. This
means that if you are lucky enough to be on a featured table,
you can get free advice from a range of poker pros. The TV
coverage is also streamed on the website.
The website is easy enough to use, with no need to download
and install specialist software before use. The players seem
friendly enough, and it generally seems to be a good place to
get your first feel of online poker.
However, other sites do offer more in terms of potential prize
money, and satellite tournaments to win seats at major live
tournaments - this does not seem to be available at Sky
Poker.
Pros - Easy to use, friendly, TV coverage and analysis if you
are lucky
Cons - Prizes are not as lucrative or glamourous as other sites
In summary, a decent place to progress your game and make
some side cash, but the skilled players will probably want to
graduate to other websites for better prizes.
