Review For: Reiss's (Fashion) returns policy (Reiss)
Verdict: Arrogant enough to make me resent the crazy prices
Show Full Details
Description: Returns policy for unwanted goods
Opinion: So I should make it clear that I really really like lots of
Reiss's clothes. One of my best ever purchases, a pretty-much-
guaranteed-to-pull red dress, came from there. But they are
very smug about being 'the most fashion-forward' high street
clothes shop, and that attitude is nowhere more simply
illustrated than in their returns policy. Quite simply, they
will not let you have your money back, ever. Even if you
return the item the following day, unworn, they still only
offer you vouchers. And sometimes, let's face it, you just
want the cash. I think it's incredibly disrespectful. It's
entirely for their benefit, not yours and it basically says
that they don;t care about their customers. Rubbish.

Review For: Ribbons & Taylor (Independent retailer)
Verdict: reliably good for fab frocks and not expensive
Show Full Details
Description: Independent vintage clothes shop on Stoke Newington Church
Street, London
Opinion: This is my local, and one of my favourite, vintage clothes
shops. I've bought some really legendary dresses here.
Frocks seem to be their speciality but they are also ace for
accessories, especially shoes. Have also found knitwear and
coats. There's men's stuff too. It's not high end stuff, no
designers, but it's run by a woman who really knows how to
source her stock and given the quality, it's not pricey,
even if, in common with the rest of Stokey, it has got more
expensive recently.

Review For: Car club (Streetcar)
Verdict: Brilliant concept, perfectly executed
Show Full Details
Description: Totally brilliant car sharing concept that lets you hire a brand
new VW Golf for anything from half an hour to a weekend.
Opinion: Ok, so this is going to be an embarrassing rave but really, I
just can't believe how good these people are. It's one of
those genius ideas you can't believe no one has thought of
before... if you only want to use a car once a week or once a
month, you're put off by the expense of buying and
maintaining your own and car hire is an expensive hassle, you
need Streetcar. The technology behind it is simple and works
brilliantly, they have a huge fleet in London so you can
always find a car near you when you want it, and the back up
service is the best I have ever encountered.
They have recently started charging a fifty quid joining fee,
but they are still incredibly good value at £4.95 an hour. The
whole concept is intrinsically green because it means that you
only use a car when you really need one. If you live in
London, you need this in your life.
